002 EMAIL: RECUITMENT

I'm looking for someone or someone's who would go on treasure hunts with me. How would you like to team up?
If you're interested, I want you to prove yourself first. Somewhere just outside of Edge, there's suppose to be a treasure hidden by who-knows-who. ;)

If you manage to find it, I'll let you in.

You can get your hands on some really rare items by becoming a treasure hunter and we might be able to find hidden secrets about the planet! Or you can just do something instead of sitting in hot-ass rooms.
Not a bad deal, is it? No...no, I don't think so.

[Unfortunately, Kain hasn't yet completely mastered the video feature, so everyone is treated to a view of mostly Kain's hand, at the moment, with some images of sky and buildings poking through. The voice that speaks is deep and stern sounding, overall just way too serious for this.]

Apparently if I speak into this device, I'm communicating with others. I have my doubts. Why should I want to, anyway?

[ Tifa looks sweaty. Like, super sweaty. Her hair's pulled back into a messy bun to keep it up off her neck, and she's not even wearing her usual work uniform of leather duster and vest, instead opting for something a little more breathable.

She also looks extremely apologetic. ]

To the patrons of the Seventh Heaven in Edge — I'm really sorry, but the air conditioning still doesn't seem to be working. I'm not a very good mechanic, though, so I can't seem to get it fixed...

News Broadcast + Private Action

[Anyone able to get power to their televisions or radios are treated to a special news bulletin around noon on the 16th]

We have received reports that former President of ShinRa Electric Power Company and current CEO of ShinRa Tech Rufus Shinra collapsed on the way to his helicopter after a meeting in a Costa del Sol hotel today. No one knows where he was rushed to, but our sources say it was not to any public hospital. Could someone have planned this, or is Rufus Shinra just the latest victim in the rash of collapsed citizens plaguing the Planet? More at eleven.

[And if you're a ShinRa employee or otherwise familiar with Rufus at all, you will find him in his Edge apartment, one of the few buildings with fully functioning AC. He has it on full blast as his doctors said it might have been heat exhaustion combined with stress from his work lately.

Rufus is pretty sure that's bullshit, as what he vaguely remembers about being passed out is too much like when he was sick with the stigma to be simply exhaustion. But if it makes them stop nagging, whatever.]

I'm guessing that everything I've been told about what's going on here is true, as crazy as it sounds.

[Hello Edge~ Some of you might recognize this individual because she's from this world! Or at least, apparently, there is a version of her here or something like that. The entire explanation she's received has been a bit mind numbing but she's taking it all in stride.

But she'd much rather be in Edge and not this hospital, thank you very much.]

And I'm also assuming there's no way back home.

[Sitting on the edge of her hospital bed, Cissnei frowns thoughtfully at the camera, tapping a finger against her chin.]

So I guess that means I need to find a way to Edge, doesn't it?

[When she asked, she'd been told that certain people were here but she...she's not going to believe it until she sees them. Until she can touch them. Because for her it's been a year since they disappeared and this all feels like a strange dream.

For now, she'll just bait them.]

Message on Phones and Radio

Hello again everyone. This is Leon Worth of the WRO here with an announcement.

Earlier this month, if you somehow missed it, power to the more heavily populated regions of the Planet stopped. Unfortunately, the shift from mako energy to anything but is not an easy one and we are working to get power back to the cities. It is taking longer than we anticipated, however, and as an apology the WRO has partnered with the Grand Solarian in Costa del Sol, one of the cities that still has power, to offer compensated vacations to those who wish to claim them. These vacations last for three days at a time, and the vouchers for them can only be picked up in Edge or Junon though there is currently no limit on how many times you can claim a voucher. The Grand Solarian is one of the largest hotels in Costa del Sol, with two buildings in the city itself, one of which is on the beach, and villas just outside of it. The villas are not eligible for a compensated vacation, but the beachfront property is.

There are single, couple, and family vouchers available starting today. Please stop by the nearest WRO office or aid station to collect yours today.

He hopes. Currently it’s just a disaster with Isa sitting in the middle of it, fuming and sweaty. Their apartment, like so many, is powerless.]

So...anyone know how to read backwoods Wutaian? At least I think that’s what the directions are in...or was it something else, Isa?

[He squints at the directions before holding them up for Lea’s phone to capture.]

[And yeah, it’s some dialect of Wutaian that two boys from Kalm would never have learned to read. Lea sighs]

Never buy a bed from a backalley furniture store, guys. Even if it’s a great deal for a queen-sized bed.

[Yes. Two teenaged boys got one queen-sized bed. No, they don’t see a problem with this.]

We're Live! (Finally...) [TV Broadcast]

[At eight in the morning, a cheerful, peppy looking blonde man and a calmer, though still pleased dark-skinned man appear on the televisions across Edge.]

Hey everyone. I'm Chris Martin, the one in charge of the Mognet servers.

[The blonde man's smile gets wider]

And I'm Leon Worth with the WRO. We're happy to announce that the Mognet servers are back up after last week's unfortunate electrical fire.

Electrical fire and water damage caused by our sprinkler system. Word of advice: get surge protectors for all of your electronics.

[Chris laughs a bit while Leon manages to keep his practiced polite smile in place despite the other man's exuberance.]

Yes. Anyway, while the servers are back up we do ask that people try to limit their Mognet usage for a day or two until all of the stress tests are done.

Or we risk another fire.
