Lea points his camera at the mess of wood and metal that is going to be their bedframe.

He hopes. Currently it’s just a disaster with Isa sitting in the middle of it, fuming and sweaty. Their apartment, like so many, is powerless.]

So...anyone know how to read backwoods Wutaian? At least I think that’s what the directions are in...or was it something else, Isa?

[He squints at the directions before holding them up for Lea’s phone to capture.]

[And yeah, it’s some dialect of Wutaian that two boys from Kalm would never have learned to read. Lea sighs]

Never buy a bed from a backalley furniture store, guys. Even if it’s a great deal for a queen-sized bed.

[Yes. Two teenaged boys got one queen-sized bed. No, they don’t see a problem with this.]

Okay, you’ve asked. Turn that off and go change the laundry to the dryer already.

[Isa takes off his shirt and wipes away the sweat with it because fuck, it's getting way too hot for even that.]

This electricity being out business is so stupid.

[He's never had to go this long without AC indoors, okay? It's a bit rough for him. Outside there's at least breezes. In the bedroom there's one window that's only letting in a little bit of a breeze every so often.]

I think we have Ice materia here somewhere...or we can splurge and buy some?

[He's about to say what a good idea that is, but then he realizes it won't work.]

And when the ice melts we'll have a flood of water in our room.

[Isa facepalms. Where does he even begin to list the reasons that's a terrible idea?]

Lea, that's a little dangerous. What if you accidentally ice me? I could get frostbite or worse. And it's inefficient. You'll have to keep doing it. What we need is a giant ice cube.

[He doesn't answer right away, tossing the laundry into the dryer. There was no telling when the power would go out again, with it on cycles right now]

[Isa is still trying to make sense of these directions. It would help if the diagrams were better, then they wouldn't need to be able to read it.]

I figured that's how we'd make the giant ice cube.

[Isa balls up his sweaty shirt and throws it at him.]

[He scowls and flops down backwards onto a pile of wood that he forgot was there. Which only makes him even more annoyed.]

[Lea sighs and moves over to help Isa sit up]

C'mon, go get that rag we soaked and stuck in the freezer. Should be cold enough by now.

[He gets up and heads to the bedroom door before turning to look back at Lea.]

[Excuse him as he silently watches through the whole thing, head tilting the longer it goes on and biting his lip to stifle amusement. Then he shakes his head.]

[Live together. The earlier amusement slides sideways into flustered realisation, and Cloud cuts himself off. He glances away and then back, head ducked down. Two of them and a single bed, and either they don't see it or they just don't want to talk about it to other people and really, that's fine.

But he also remembers Isa's' "friends like us" comments while they talked about Tifa and his older self, so... maybe neither of them see it? He doesn't know.]

It is too hot, but I don't want to sleep on a mattress on the floor again. And we got rid of the old bed already.

[Isa shakes his head an smiles before going and grabbing the cold rag. He drapes it over the back of his neck before heading back to the room. It's already helping cool him down.]

... I guess so, yeah.

[He can see the logic in that, really, but still. Maybe part of the issue is just what he's comfortable with or not... Except Cloud's not sure that's just that.]

Power went out after you'd already gotten it and now you've got nowhere to sleep? [He shouldn't but he does snort a little.]

Pretty much, yeah. And at least it's not a bunk bed.
